Tracking anxiety is real. This guide teaches you how to track effectively, interpret status messages, estimate arrival times, and know when a delay is normal versus when you should take action.
Tracking Number Basics
When your package ships, Hipobuy provides a tracking number. This number is carrier-specific and follows different formats.
- EMS: Format like EE123456789CN or EB987654321CN
- DHL: Usually 10 numeric digits
- FedEx: 12 or 15 digits, often starting with 4 or 8
- EUB: Format similar to EMS but with different prefixes
Understanding Status Updates
Tracking statuses follow a predictable sequence. Understanding what each status means helps you estimate progress.
| Status | What It Means | Typical Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Label Created | Shipping label printed, not yet picked up | 1-2 days |
| Picked Up | Carrier collected from warehouse | N/A |
| In Transit | Moving through carrier network | Varies by route |
| Arrived at Hub | Reached sorting facility | 1-3 days processing |
| Customs Clearance | Being processed by customs | 1-5 days |
| Out for Delivery | On local delivery vehicle | Same day |
When to Worry
Most delays are normal, especially around customs. However, certain patterns indicate potential problems.
- No update for 14+ days after 'In Transit'
- Stuck at customs for 7+ days without clearance notice
- 'Return to Sender' status appears
- Tracking shows delivered but you have not received it
